About
Honeymoon Island is just off the coast of Dunedin, Florida, across the Dunedin Causeway. Back in the day, it was called Hog Island but was renamed Honeymoon Island in 1939 for honeymoon bungalows that were once built there. Visitors can come for the day and swim, fish, or snorkel in the warm waters or enjoy a picnic on the beach. Showers are available along with two cafes and stores where you can enjoy simple, freshly prepared beach fare and stock up on beach essentials. You can also rent beach chairs, umbrellas and kayaks through the store. Honeymoon Island is famous for beach weddings and parties. The Bon Appetit Group, a local Dunedin restaurateur in business for 40 years, operates the cafes and stores and beach rentals.
