The History of the Zimmerwald Name and Barn: The Zimmerwald Estate Barn & Grainery is owned by Craig and Lalisa Carpenter of Ellenboro, North Carolina. The Carpenter family ancestors migrated from Switzerland in the 1700s. While in Switzerland the family, then known as Zimmermans (later translated to Carpenter once in the United States), founded a small town named Zimmerwald. It is known as one of the most beautiful places to visit
